Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine faced a massive social crisis, leaving many children homeless and addicted to drugs. Against this background, Pastor Gennadiy Mokhnenko founds the “Pilgrim Republic” rehabilitation center, the largest of its kind in the former Soviet Union. However, Gennadiy is a controversial figure, often labeled a “lawless vigilante” for his methods, which involve forcibly abducting street kids and bringing them to his center, a practice he openly admits to and defends as necessary tough love.
