THE TRAIN OF SALT AND SUGAR is a poignant portrait of the toll wartime violence and political tension has on humanity. This electric and visually stunning film set in the 1980s during the brutal Mozambique civil war was directed by Licinio Azevedo, and was Mozambique’s 2018 Oscar submission. Azevedo’s approach is at once breathtaking and subtle—weaving evocative and intricate portraits of each of his characters.
